Featured: Chief Coach Varsha Upadhye’s Interview in Loksatta newspaper, 27th April 2020varsha-upadhye
“Only those sportspersons maintaining mental and physical health will be able to sustain their training post the coronavirus situation!”
In the interview, she describes how online classes are helping her keep a track of daily training of the students but at the same time due to lack of space and other lack of resources in some houses, it is difficult to properly execute the exercises for some students. But the effort does not stop there.
She also notes how staying at home all these days tempts young Students to eat junk food and steer away from the diet plan. As a gymnast or even any sportsperson, maintaining a proper healthy diet is of vital importance!
Staying at one place all the time without regular training affects them mentally physically which is why only those able to stay strong and stay on track through this phase will be able to sustain their training post the corona virus lockdown!
Even events like the Olympics are being postponed by a year. It is a difficult time for sportspersons all around the world. We don’t know if students will even have the same engagement and enthusiasm as before. One thing is for sure, if the sportspersons show the determination to fight this phase, only then can we stand strong and sustain in our sport!
