Dharavi Slum Kids, who were being trained under the PRGA initiative program, gave a gymnastics tribute to martyred soldiers at the Rajya Krida Awards on 17th February 2019

About a month and a half ago, International Judge, Chief Coach and Shiv Chhatrapati Awardee Mrs. Varsha Upadhye chanced upon this remarkable raw Gymnastics talent from Dharavi slums and, along with the help of Government of Maharashtra, set up a free Gymnastics training program for these kids under the umbrella of Premier Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy that handled training and expenses. Classes were conducted at the Bharat Ratna Rajiv Gandhi Sports Complex, Dharavi with Artistic Gymnastics Coaches Akash and Ameya

On 17th February, on the occasion of Shiv Chhatrapati Rajya Krida Awards held at Gateway of India, with the support of State Government these young gymnasts from Dharavi paid tribute to our martyred soldiers through their Gymnastics demonstration. With the training that they acquired in just a month, they have proven their mettle and perseverance to excel!

A training program that started with 30 students has successfully enrolled and trained more than 80 students in just a month’s time with training conducted only twice a week.
Their mere street stunts can be transformed into mainstream gymnastics and Government should explore this potential. Given an opportunity, they have the talent to be future medalists for the country!
